Ideas: Use scrapbook cutouts to make your own toppers, signs and banners; Create a great food selection with the honorees' favorite treats; add the theme's main idea with just a few props as figurines and signs; substitute flowers for greenery and remember to keep your attention on what the honoree likes.

Zelda Video Game Birthday Party {Summer Catch Up}

Catching up on posts this Summer....

I hope you got a chance to catch our Zelda Party back in May featured at Hello My Sweet
and photographed by Inspired by Jayne Photography

My son and I share a love for this video game, Zelda, and we decided to have his 10th birthday on this theme! We named the foods after things from the game, made a background in faux wood and greenery to go with a 'lost woods' ambience and we used yellow and green throughout the party as is Link's colors, the main character in the video game. Hello My Sweet created awesome video graphic designs for our invitations and printables.

The wooden signs and bombs are a big part of the game and I crafted some bombs with honeycombs and a sign was used as a statement on the backdrop.

For the food you'll find trail mix cupcakes with fire arrows, a Hero’s Cake, hourglass cakepops, chocolate covered oreos, stained glass art cookies because they are found in the dungeons on the game, gelatin ‘chuchus’ which are a sort of jelly monsters, life heart cookies, watermelon juice for potion drink to fill up on energy, forest water that turns into regular water in you don't drink it within 20 minutes, cuccos chickens cupcakes which are chickens that Link encounters through the game, and rock candy to serve as rupees…the jewels that Link gets to buy things in the game.

The kids enjoyed the visit of the video truck Rolling Video Games. Ours was attended by the Knoxville Location and they were awesome to work with! There's plenty of room for the kids to enjoy the variety of games. Zelda Wallet bags were created handmade by Vanessa Grant Events and they had jewel crayons inside to send everyone home with a treasure find!
