Coffee and Valentines

Nothing warms my heart better than a cup of coffee....
okay, so maybe not...LOVE does!

I created this Valentine shoot with coffee in mind and the sweetness of a cookie to go along with it (I prefer something sweet with my coffee). These cookies speak of a sweet and strong love for coffee. Enjoy while you grab your favorite cup of coffee or tea and Have a very sweet and happy Valentine's month ahead!

Owls and Birds Party

A little Flashback post to a Launch Party that I never posted...(sorry about the photography)
This little space I created, certainly inspired by so many other creative blogs, to share my ideas and to inspire others with what I plan and style for special occasions. In Flight became my motivation to start my own business and In Flight Celebrations was registered locally in Knoxville in April 2011. Launching officially with an Owls and Birds inspired Launch Party in November 2011. Well I got busy. I lost and recaptured my images of that party and then got busy again but finally I want to share it with you of that fun Launch Party... so here it goes!

I celebrated with local vendors and family and friends and decorated  the room in owls and birds as is our theme at In Flight.  Refreshments were served and bags were offered for guests to place their goodies on.

The entrance outside the room had a rustic ambience for sign up. Wild birds food was presented in little bags for guests to take with them to feed the birds at home.

A second entrance table was set up and decorated with painted glass hurricane vases holding
candles in our party colors; pink, yellow and coral. Complimented with a burlap bunting that coordinates graciously with my logo. Bags were offered for guests to place their goodies on.

Four different tables each hosted a unique theme.
An Owl Inspired Table in yellow mustard color with rustic centerpieces and lots
of pumpkins and owls.

A Lovely Bird Inspired Table with white and pink birds as centerpieces and a romantic feel to the table with light and pink colors.

A Wood and Natural Inspired Table with wooden vases and twine wrap candles was
also inspired by birds and it incorporated kraft, twine and lace as well on the favors.

The fourth table, a Yellow and Tan Inspired Table with orange roses and golden votives.  In this last table the flower vases used as centerpieces were simple paper bags decorated with lace.

Different tables were set out for desserts.

A candy table in colors pink, yellow and coral. The table was simply decorated with a handmade garland made of painted doilies.
A Cake and Cupcake Table inspired in owls and birds while the coordinating colors remain the same as the candy table....pink, yellow and coral.  Plain white picture frames were set up to allow the desserts to represent the table's colors and feel.

A long desserts table included a variety of decorated cookies in different shapes
and colors polka dots cookies, bird cages and our logo were offered. Vanilla Cake in a Jar and Chocolate Cupcakes in a jar were wrapped on beautiful fabric and multicolor yarn. A delicious apple crumb pie and of course, milk!
The decoration is set up not only by the beauty of the desserts but also owls vases and candles and a beautiful birds plate. The flowers here were presented on simple cans.

I wanted to share this with you still because the ideas are still very much amazing for any owl and bird themed parties. The one thing I LOVED the most on this event was the way each table had it's own theme within the greater scheme.  Cakes in a jar never get old, cute cupcakes are always in and owls on a cake will always be one of my favorites.  Lights and feathers are a great addition to any party and celebration like this. Dreamcatcher Dessert Table Inspiration

This Dreamcatcher inspiration set up on an antique armoire for a dessert table represents everything I love other than the owls and birds....it has feathers, arrows, lace, gold, pretty blue shades and a wolf that inspired this entire set up because I appreciate a great woodland theme.

I asked Melissa at Melissa Creates to join me on this, because I've seen her work with feathers and arrows and I knew she would loved this theme as much as me.  Melissa created a dreamcatcher, geometric garland, and arrow toppers for our shoot and I loved how everything came up together.

I wanted to decorate with darker tones flowers for a more masculine look, and these were lovely to incorporate along golden embellished feathers. The white fur represents snow to me as I envisioned a wolf in the snow in the middle of the woods. And that wolf was spray painted in gold and used as the cake topper!

For desserts a friend of mine, Regina Long, baked and decorated this lovely two tiers golden cake and the dreamcatcher cake incorporating fringe at the bottom in fondant.
Maria at Love & Sugar Kisses made some awesome push up toppers which I used for mini iced pecan cookies and also golden feathers that I completely LOVED! I used them to top the milk shots and to decorate the cookie tray with and then on the cupcakes; which you wouldn't believe are store bought... I added some feathers with blue icing and topped them with the fondant feathers and the arrows from Melissa Creates. Boom!

Handpainted Cookies and Macarons were created by my friend Wendy who recently started sharing her work from home at Taste of Art by Wendy Symons. Just lovely!

This shoot was totally something I had been dreaming and planning for a while
 along the Pink Fox Party.
Two ideas that I wanted to bring to life because they seemed different to me than what I usually work with in the sence of themes and colors and the feel of it. A mix of rustic things with modern and antique and basically no rules to apply.
They showed me that it works, that it can be done.
Catch those fears and let your dreams take flight, I'm telling you!
