We had our first date at Disney in Orlando when we were in high school. He held me by my jeans' pocket (that's right!) before he held my hand and called me his star (I still am!!). We married in a peach and white themed wedding with a 'Sealed with a Kiss' Precious Moments topper on our delicious cake. 20 years of marriage and 3 kids later (one starting college in the fall)....I decided that I wanted to celebrate not only our 20 years of marriage and family but also the details that brought us together on that first date and our wedding. Disney, Mickey, Minnie, Peach Colors, Jeans Pockets, and a #sealedwithakissfor20years hashtag on my latest obsession....instagram!
Hope you like it as much as I do!....oh and, he did too!
Our good friend Wendy Robinson baked us a beautiful cake and roses cookies to go with it! Thank you Wendy!
Inspired by backgrounds of different patterns and embroidery hoops I decided on the mickey shape with just cutouts. I bought a tablecloth from MarthaCelebrations at JcPenney and added polka dot wrapping paper found at Marshalls that I also used as runner.
For the cakepops, I was inspired on styling them as the greenery topiaries you often see through Disney but of course in our color scheme and patterns and Sweet Whimsy baked us the cutest cakepops for that. I painted tiny terra cotta pots to place them in and added the gold buttons with a sharpie. The topiary idea was also carried out on the gold minnie topiary on the table.
The cupcakes sit on polka dotted ice cream cups I handpainted.
Ohh the toppers!....Lynlee at Lynlee's was super kind and wonderful to treat us to a special anniversary set including our 20 years, the castle with the star, churros cause who doesn't love churros at disney especially with chocolate sauce; wedding hat and tiara mickey and minnie and even some cute mylar balloons toppers! How cute is the mickey's hand making the heart!
At the place setting I styled 'minnie bows' on the napkins, painted chargers, and placed rose cookies on gold handpainted ice cream cups on each place setting with a small crafted topper. For drinks we had green apple soda and as a background I painted a block color wreath with flowers and a gold mickey. For centerpiece I also spray painted a plastic mickey and minnie and I found the cutest sentiment necklace on our last trip to Downtown Disney this Summer.
My daughters had the idea of having the labels on chalkboard coasters and we bought some chalkboard coasters at Michael's but painted them with chalkboard paint from Martha Stewart's Crafts and we had the most awesome labels! I use chalk marker on those. Stay tuned for a tutorial!
For his gift, I crafted a little bag with a jean pocket from scrapbook paper and added a number topper by Tag Me Chic. I was inspired on Jeans Pocket Crafts I found on Pinterest but didn't want to actually break some jeans so I decided on paper!
