Homemade Smores Rustic Owl Cake

I am so happy with how my In Flight's 3rd Anniversary went partying on the blog last week and I'm excited to kick off another year of ideas, inspiration and great parties!

I finished the festivities this past weekend with this homemade smores cake with a rustic look (meaning simplicity) and woodland owls!

The great wooden pegs are from the wonderful Craft That Party and they have some awesome colors inspired on my favorite fall colors including blue...I'm loving them!

For the smores cake, I simply added and mixed in graham crackers and marshmallows to a milk chocolate mix. Easy and quick. It's going to be moist from the marshmallows and the flavor of the graham swirls.

I appreciate Brenda's designs and the work she puts into it for her shop.  We worked together for a really beautiful design with Billy Balls Flowers and Chevron Pattern and she really took in my inspiration and designed a stylish invitation that any bride would adore as well as bride and groom signs for any fun photo shoot.

Meet the sweet Kori of Paper & Pigtails.

About Kori:

"My name is Kori and I live in sunny Florida where I share my home with my sweet husband, two excited toddlers, and two large dogs who shed a bit too much. My computer is my life line and I have been using it to illustrate original graphics for over 10 years.  It was love at first digital illustration, and I graduated in digital arts. Since that time I have worked corporately and then had the opportunity to stay home and try to make this a full time gig, with freelance work. In spring of 2010 I launched Paper & Pigtails to concentrate on party designs!"

Meet our Contest Judges!

I've had the pleasure to meet (at least online), these three amazingly creative women that have inspired me in the last year since I started the blog and I invited them to join me in judging our contest and I'm honored that they accepted to be a part of it.

If you have not met them yet {which I doubt!}...here they are!

Our judges will help me choose a winner for our contest based on a votes, and the ability of our contestants to meet the requirements for our contest.  Please refer to the Contest Rules!

In Flight's Dessert Table Contest ~ An Anniversary Event

OCTOBER 28 ~ NOVEMBER 28

Winners announced in early December

Rules:

• Create a Dessert Table featuring your favorite character {commercial or non commercial theme accepted} See our Favorite Character Dessert Table Feature for Inspiration and Ideas
• Your Dessert Table must be your original idea created exclusively for our contest {not published anywhere else before entering the contest}
• No certain budget need to be followed
• A minimum of 6 desserts or candy items and at least 1 handmade item must be crafted by contestant
• One table only accepted per theme {you choose if it's a dessert table, guest tables, etc but only one allowed}
• Participant may enter more than one entry under different themes
• Contest open to individual, party planners and designers and party vendors (except for those currently sponsoring and judging this event).
• We need to judge your table based on at least 5 pictures
• Email your submission to inflightideas@gmail.com with Subject Line: Dessert Table Contest including your minimum 5 images, a description of your table and vendors credits.
