Quince Celebrations {Sweet 15 Real Parties}

Today, on my 'feature week' I want to share with you a few Quince Celebrations, also known as Sweet 15, Quinceañera/o and Mis Quince!

In our Hispanic culture,  a girl is celebrated by family and friends in a big gathering as she turns 15.  She is given a tiara and a scepter and  her flat girly shoes are exchanged for heels. 

The tiara signifies that you are a princess in the eyes of God and the world and the scepter signifies the responsibility being given to you as you become a young woman.  The shoes are exchanged by your parents as they welcome your womanhood.  In some cases, a last doll is also given and in religious celebrations, often a cross.

Today, I want to share with you pictures of my friends daughters and my own as they celebrated their 15th birthday with a Quinceañero Celebration.

My friend Mariela's daughter, Valeria had a pink and zebra stylish celebration.  Love her pink dress and stunning cake!

Love the theme on Arianna's Celebration, my friend Norma's daughter.  Don't you just want a piece of that cake?!!  And her blue dress is so beautiful, what a party!

Decor by Yael Feature

I'm so excited to share with you pictures of our Aussie friend Yael, an event planner and stylist!  Check out all the wonderful props on the tables at different events.  She shared with us her description on each.

Pink and Pretty Girls party - For the kids tables I had polka dot boxes heaped with all things
gorgeous and yummy from liquid wands, parasols, feather boas, large lollipops and heaps of ribbon.
Each place setting had a mini box of candies for take home

 

 

 

 

Adults tables were complimentary floral arrangements with pink rose topiaries and hydrangeas in white pots.  Each table had a contrasting polka dot runner.  The napkins were wrapped in shear ribbon with mini flowers inset underneath

 

 

 

Mad Hatters theme Adult tables had giant T Cups filled moss rocks, gerberas and sign posts saying
'looking glass', 'eat me' ....mini t cups with roses were scattered around the table...Polka dot lycra chair covers added to the quirkiness of the theme!

 

 

Boys party age 12 Theme : Citrus Splash...contrasting orange and aqua lycra chair covers and napkins bought the room to life!  Colour coordinated lollies and glow objects were placed in jars along the tables.  Huge balloon arrangments were also positioned on the tables to play on height and add a 'Wow Factor'!

 

Citrus Splash: Adults tables had a fruit and vegetable centerpieces with mini African inspired votives with beaded handles.

Red, White, Blue .........and Yellow! {On Vacation}

I know it's past all the glory of the days leading up to the great 4th of July, but I want to share ours with you as I enjoyed very much setting in our resort room with a pool view!  This year I added yellow, which is not only a very significant color in honoring our military but also my favorite this Summer...Enjoy!

I got this idea from Martha Stewart Magazine to put all the goodies for our celebration in the bucket we were to use for drinks!
