Paper Airplanes Birthday

I love packing a party and taking it up on the road with us...

for my son's 9th birthday, he didn't want to have a big party but rather spend a weekend away with just the 5 of us; we relaxed, we celebrated, we had fun and ..... we still had a party!

Here's how we celebrated, with a theme very familiar to him at the moment; he is into paper airplanes, and if you follow my blog since last year you already know he is a little traveler at heart.

So here we go taking off....flying!

He picked the colors himself: mustard yellow, royal blue and a bit of orange

Kori at Paper & Pigtails was so wonderful to customize her Paper Airplane Printable Collection with Joel's preferred colors.

And the amazingly creative Brittany of Edible Details matched the design perfectly with edible toppers!

Check out the incredibly looking cookies by Bee's Knees Creative; I'm so excited about Renee's work matching the design of the labels as well with the different cookies and clouds even!

My good friend Wendy Robinson, painted Paper Airplanes on serving plates for us...so cute!

Tile cookies by Ollie Tolly's Naturally Sweet Treats, I love those!

Travel supplies for favors, and at Joel's request.....Orange Milk!

I challenged myself into making oreo pops with paper airplanes on top...loved how they came out!

Our wonderful cake and cupcakes are from Rosa's Catering, and Regina did such a great job creating a cake we had sketched for her using different shapes.  Joel sent her 2 designs and had her choose 1 for his cake which he did not see until we picked up the cake.  Regina combined the two designs and I love the paper airplane on top...he loved it too!

He wrote on the labels himself, including his favorite cookies...Chocolate Covered Oreos by Sweet Temptations.

Janet also worked with us to match the cookies to his color palette and he liked this 'Happy Birthday' design because "it's cursive'!

Joel helped plan his dessert table and made the paper airplanes for decor himself...

Angilyn at Simple Tastes made the cutest tiny paper airplanes to go on her lollipop favors for us...

I know you want to know about the stunning...Custom Tassel Garland by Carmen at The Flair Exchange! ; find them here!

Happy May Birthday to my baby boy! We had a great weekend...

"TRAVELING AROUND THE WORLD"

France
{ Sweets and Painting Activity }

It is extremely difficult to maintain desserts at an outside party on a hot summer day, nevertheless....I tried!  Cakepops got a little melted and they started looking like real paint but I think the idea came across and I had extras inside!...Painting in France ladies and gents!  With CAKEPOPS!!  I was inspired by Terri's Treasures' Cakepops created for Paper and Cake's Art Party Printables {which is a must see} and I created the look using our party's color palette.

Our entire table featuring an art/painting theme with petit fours and macarons from our local French Market.

For game we played Koffer Packen which translates to The Suitcase Game which I found at eHow.com. "The children sit in a circle and create a song by adding their own individual phrases to the existing phrase. The child who starts the game sings the sentence, "I packed my suitcase and place a book inside." Then, the child sitting to the left of the starter must sing the sentence and add his own phrase'...and so on
